Meditate. This 2013 practice meditation. Try to do it daily, even if it’s just for 5 minutes (and we all have a 5 minutes we can tune out the world and tap into our inner, best self). It’s the most important thing you can do.
The interesting thing about meditation is that the people (all of us!) who need it most never seem to find time for it. By dropping out of the world for a few minutes, you repair your ability to cope with it, and your awareness expands, you connect with Source, and you tap into your intuition. When you access your intuitive self, your judgement is better. You see things more clearly. The sun shines more brightly on your life. And you find peace. What’s more important than peace?
So how do you meditate? Well, you can always tap into your breath. You can watch our episode about meditation and follow Sheila’s lead. If following our breath doesn’t get you there, here are few other techniques you try to find the right one that works for your meditation practice.
Find a mantra that works for you. When you breathe in say the first part of your mantra and when you breathe out say the second part. I like these particular mantras. Breathe in, “I am Love.” Breathe out, “Love surrounds me.” Or this one: “Who am I?” Breathe out, “I am all.” Try one of these or one you develop on your own for 5 minutes a day.
Create a sanctuary in your mind. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in an environment that is peaceful, beautiful, and comfortable to you. Explore your sanctuary, notice the visual details, make it your home, add whatever you need to feel more comfortable. Have fun creating your sanctuary and remember to keep the feelings of peace, tranquility, and safety. Use your sanctuary to still your mind and your repetitious thoughts. Go there every time you close your eyes in meditation. Try this for 5-10 minutes a day.
Invocation in your meditation. Close your eyes and calm your mind. Take ten deep breaths. When you feel grounded say to yourself, “I now call forth the quality of love.” Feel the energy of love coming to you, radiating through you and out from you. Stay for a few minutes fully experiencing this feeling. If you like, you can practice invoking other qualities or energy you would like in your life. You can use the power of invocation to summon strength, wisdom, creativity, healing power. Do this by making a strong, clear statement to yourself that this energy is now coming to you.
The most important this is to meditate, find a way that works for you and practice that everyday. You’ll find yourself happier, more peaceful and more energized. Your life will change in ways you could not imagine. Remember today is great day to start!
