Even Lotharios Can Be Tamed Temporarily. Congrats Adam Levine!
Ladies, don’t lose hope. If Adam Levine can actually settle down with one girl, then anyone can. The question, however, from realistic lil’ ol’ me is this: will it last?
I’m sure none of you will be surprised to learn that “The Voice” judge is settling down in holy matrimony with a model. This isn’t just any old model, either: he’s tying the knot with Victoria’s Secret stunner and former catwalk queen Behati Prinsloo.
It is also the third VS model he’s seriously dated, though Anne V and Angela Belotte have been traded in for a newer, younger model (so to speak).
Though Levine’s modelizing has only rivaled that of Leonardo DiCaprio‘s — who, at 38, is still single — he did confess to Oprah Winfrey last May that he wanted to settle down…someday. “I’m a fan of marriage,” he confessed. “People think that I keep pooh-poohing marriage, but I love it … I want to probably be married at some point.”
That point is now, enough so that the 34-year-old Maroon 5 frontman proposed to the 24-year-old Namibian beauty in Los Angeles over the weekend.
So here’s the thing. On one hand, I’m stoked that even lotharios like Levine can be tamed. On the other, I’m doubtful it will last.
For one thing, as gorgeous as Behati Prinsloo is, she’s 24. He is ten years her senior, and she’s got a lot of living to do. Sure, being an international catwalk queen has probably matured her quite a bit, but she’s still a baby in the grand scheme of things.
Two, she’s marrying a rock star. Some of these relationships last, but they’re the exceptions.
And three, very careful wording from his publicist announcing the engagement makes me the tiniest bit skeptical. “Adam Levine and his girlfriend Behati Prinsloo are excited to announce they are engaged to be married,” the rep confirmed to People magazine. “The couple recently reunited and Adam proposed this weekend in Los Angeles.”
Reunited? Was there a break up? Is this a last-ditch effort to save their relationship?
Or maybe I’m being too cynical. Maybe this was the grand gesture she needed to stay, or his realization that he couldn’t live without her.
Let’s go with that, because if we lose hope that there are guys that actually step up when faced with losing the person they love the most (just look at Ben Affleck and Jennifer Aniston in He’s Just Not That Into You!), then we have nothing.
So on that note, congrats to the happy couple! Maybe your love be everlasting and ever-strong. Maybe you always be beautiful and may you always be happy.
