Our Rice & Beans RECIPE:
This is one of Sheila Heylin’s classic recipes. Great, easy dish for lunch, at home, or on the road. Serves 2.
2 cup – your favorite rice cooked. We like AE Vincent Short Grain Brown Rice or Basmati Rice & forbidden black rice (full of nutrients it has a really wonderful nutty taste).
1 can chick peas (garbanzo beans) (Eden Organics), rinsed
12 stalks (or more, depending on thickness of the stalks) of RAW asparagus chopped into bite-size pieces
3 tablespoons of Nama Shoyu Soy Sauce (this particular soy sauce tastes great & aids digestion. We’ve found it at Whole Foods & most local health food stores)
This is a great lunch to take on the road. If you’re traveling, mix together in a portable container. The soy sauce will absorb so there will be no problem going through security at the airport. If you’re traveling & you only want one serving, use 1 cup cooked rice, 1/2 cup beans, & 8-10 stalks of asparagus (depending on size). You’ll feel nourished with this anti-inflammatory dish. Eat ageless. Feel good, look great. It’s all about what you eat.
