Recently many students have asked me, “What are you doing lately? You are glowing!” No it’s not a new boyfriend, it’s probably a little Ageless Diet™, but most of all I have a magic potion to thank.
Last summer, when visiting Portland, Oregon one of my besties, Uma, got me hooked on using coconut oil. But, not until this very long winter in NYC did I start using it on my face!
That’s right, Dr Bronner’s organic coconut oil on my precious visage. It’s the most affordable moisturizer I’ve ever used. Goodbye Fresh and Kiehl’s. It absorbs quickly, smells amazing, and, as made apparent by my weekly audience of yoga students, it works.
So, I did some research on the benefits of coconut oil, mainly to see if there is proof to it being anti-aging. Or as we prefer here, ageless. Well, it turns out that oxidation is the cause of aging and the oils in coconuts prevent this chemical reaction of oxygen eroding our healthy fat and body tissue.
Now I’m no scientist or doctor, but it seems coconut oil is one of the safest moisturizers and sources of vitamin E to use on your skin. And, as I found on Dr. Oz’s site, it’s often recommended to use on the skin of babies. Now, that is what I call Ageless.
